Description

These Homemade Pumpkin Bagels are chewy, flavorful, and spiced just right for fall. Perfect for breakfast or a cozy snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 packet (2¼ tsp) instant yeast
  • ½ cup warm water
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp ginger
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and brown sugar. Let sit 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add pumpkin puree, spices, salt, and flour. Mix and knead until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Cover and let rise for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled.
  4. Divide dough into 8 pieces, roll into balls, and shape into bagels.
  5. Boil each bagel for 30–45 seconds per side in lightly sugared water.
  6. Place on parchment-lined baking sheet. Add toppings if desired.
  7. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–22 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Cool slightly, slice, and enjoy!

Notes

  • Freeze sliced bagels in plastic wrap and reheat in toaster.
  • Use canned pumpkin puree, not pie filling.
  • Great with cinnamon cream cheese or maple butter.
